The opening of an exhibition of copper wire sculpture, printmaking and oil pastels by Lindelani Emmanuel Ngwenya, will be held on October 16 at 17h30 at the African Art Centre, 1st Floor Tourist Junction, 160 Pine Street. The exhibition will be opened by Gcina Mhlophe.

Lindelani started woodcarving and drawing at the age of 10. He learnt the art of woodcarving from watching his father carving wooden spoons and meat platters. He has excelled with etching techniques, but also likes to weave sculptures out of copper wire. Lindelani is interested in cultural themes which are reflected in his work. This is his first solo exhibition, which makes a strong social comment on life in South Africa today.
