The NSA will host four Tibetan monks in an experience titled The Sacred Art of Sand Mandala Painting to take place from September 10 to 15. The public is invited to watch these artists create their colourful complexity.

On September 14, the mandala will be complete and talks on its symbology by one of the monks will be held on that day at 11h00, 13h00 and 15h00. The exhibition closes on September 15 when there will be another talk at 11h00, with the closing ceremony and dissolution of the beautiful sand painting taking place during that afternoon.

Tibetan handicrafts and books will be on sale during Saturday and Sunday. The exhibition has been arranged with The Tibet Society of SA. More details from Jean on 031 462-7266 (a/h).

NB: The Concise Oxford Dictionary describes a mandala as a “symbolic circular figure as religious symbol of universe”.
