The busy group Arts Interactive recently received sponsorship from Braby’s who provided a prize of R1,000 for a competition, the condition being that Braby’s wold choose the theme. This turned out to be South African boats and ships and the organisation would select the paintings they liked the best to produce a calendar/ Those whose work was selected would receive a fee. This was won by the group’s chairman, well-known watercolourist John Smith.

Arts Interactive also received earlier support from another major organisation in the form of R1,000 from the finance company Bankfin. “We've had other prizes donated as well such as easels and vouchers for framing,” explains John Smith. “All the prizes are donated, usually by people in the art industry such as framers, galleries and art material suppliers. They have been very generous and long may they continue.

“We are hoping for some sponsorship for our little magazine and have been talking to a company that feels there is some merit in what we are doing.”
