Well-known KZN photographer Barry Downard has been commissioned to do five covers for a series of books by Australia's biggest selling children’s author and he has just completed two covers for The Economist as well as a book cover for publishers Hodder Headline UK. He’s also working with a London writer on The Amazing Zoo of Mr Zog which he describes as “a collection of wonderful imaginary creatures”.

His book about ballet dancing chickens was being reviewed by a Disney company and he eagerly awaits their decision. Simon & Schuster in New York were also interested in the book but not enough to publish it. “However, they love my style of artwork and want to generate some projects with me,” says Barry.

Last year, Barry Downard produced the images for a calendar featuring the works of the Fantastic Flying Fish Dance Company.
