Walter Oltmann, known for his monumental wire sculptures, is this year's Standard Bank Young Artist Award winner. He employs humble and domestic techniques such as basket making, thatching and weaving to transform the mundane into poetic images. With outstanding craftsmanship he blows up everyday objects to large, intricately woven wire images. The exhibition provides a fascinating opportunity for one and all to see wire work with a difference.

During September and October, a number of local wire artists will take turns to make and sell their craft on the verandah of the Tatham from Tuesdays to Fridays ending on October 26. These displays will coincide with the exhibition of award winning wire artist Walter Oltmann in the Main Gallery.
