The Alliance Française de Durban is currently hosting an exhibition titled Captured Souls until June 1.

Captured Souls is a series of black and white photographs taken in rural and urban South Africa by Richard Menant. A former director of the French College in Johannesburg, he has spent more than 30 years as an amateur photographer.

The transparency and nuances of the emotions captured in the photographs on this exhibition challenge perceptions and values. They reveal a rare empathic eye behind the camera, offering an intimate encounter with the average man in the street.

The Alliance is situated at Sutton Crescent, Morningside. The exhibition is open to the general public and school groups are also welcome. Phone (031) 312-9582 for more details.
