Durban-based sculptor Christo Gounaris died in 1991 and his son Nico Gounaris will commemorate his 10th memorial anniversary in December 2001.

Christo Gounaris worked mainly in the medium of marble and alabaster. These were no mass-produced items but each one individually created, unique and only ones of their kind in South Africa.

Nico still has available the last remaining pieces of his father’s work and these are for sale to any avid collector of classical sculpted works. On offer are various statues, lamps, vases, pedestals, side-tables, fruit-bowls, marble phones and ashtrays.

Viewing is by appointment only at Classical Art Gallery, 19 Northway, Durban North. Phone (031) 564-6746 or 082 355-0166.
