The Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg will host Tribute to Nancy Nielsen-Baker from March 13 to April 8.

Nancy Nielsen-Baker was art teacher at the then Girls' Collegiate School in Pietermaritzburg from 1964 until 1983. This exhibition pays tribute to her as “a remarkable inspiration and influence upon the lives and artistic careers of generations of her pupils”.

The exhibition will include the art and craft of a number of her past pupils, many of whom are themselves art teachers or accomplished artists today.

Nielsen-Baker was a voracious reader who traveled widely and the exhibition will also feature some of her illustrated journals reflecting her wide interests and hobbies.
