In April 2001, the Technikon Natal Gallery will host the ABSA Atelier Awards 2001 exhibition and competition for the KZN. This competition, sponsored by ABSA and the South African National Association for the Visual Arts is held annually for artists between the ages of 21 and 35 and five prizes are awarded.

The overall winner receives R60,000 from ABSA as well as a return air ticket to Paris, France. The prize money must be used for a time of study of at least three months, but not more than six months, in the studio apartment in the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. Four additional merit prizes of R10,000 will be awarded.

All artists from the KZN region are invited to participate in this prestigious annual competition and entry forms are available at Technikon Natal Gallery (Berea Campus), NSA Gallery, Durban Art Gallery, African Art Centre and the BAT Centre. ntries must be submitted from March 5 and 9 to Technikon Natal Gallery between 08h30 and 15h00.

Selected works will be shown at the Regional ABSA Atelier Award Exhibition at Technikon Natal Gallery from April 3 to 12.
