Photographer Barry Downard describes himself as having “just had a spiffing month”. He has won the South African section of an international photographic competition run by Hasselblad cameras and Kodak and is currently awaiting the international result. He has also just completed an illustration commission for a Sony Playstation ad from ad agency TBWA London and the feedback from the client was highly positive.

One of Barry’s passions is dance photography and to this end he is publishing a dance calendar for 2001. It features Durban’s Fantastic Flying Fish Company which will receive a portion of the proceeds. The calendar will be available at the Playhouse box office during the run of FFFDC’s Romeo and Juliet over the festive season at a cost of R40. Copies will also be available at Exclusive Books from the beginning of November (price still to be determined)
