NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. If you read this before August 6 when it closes, you can still catch a fascinating and often-humorous exhibition at 168 Palmer Street. Titled Zulu Sushi, it features an installation by Mmabatho Lesele, decorated hair pieces by Suzy Bell and photographs by Arthur Bozas. The exhibition was put together by Peter Engblom, who also shows photographs from his CD-ROM titled A Land Called Heaven as well as a (very) tongue-in-cheek collection of documents and photographs of a Zulu trip to Japan a century ago! It’s advisable to phone first on 083 668-1620 to make sure there’s someone at the venue and they’ll give you directions in case you’re unsure of the address.
