The annual Nederburg Knysna Arts Experience from September 22 to October 1 offers a gentle alternative in this scenic town on the Garden Route. The Visual Arts festival features more than 60 art exhibitions by leading local artists of international repute and a Living Arts Workshop.

Fringe events include a topical spring school lecture programme with contemporary speakers, ethnic song and dance in a Community Arts Festival, and drama, dance, music and cabaret performances at local restaurants and theatre venues, as well as eco-excursions.
