Louise Hall’s exhibition was recently seen at the Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg. From July 19 to August 6 it will be on show at the Bayside Gallery, BAT Centre, Durban. This exhibition is a selection of current paintings and drawings focusing on the human form. It is an expression of the artist’s fascination with the tricky task of translating, interpreting and transforming drawing into a new authentic entity.

This process has entailed constant redefinition and re-interpretation of the original drawing and experimenting with the plastic properties and potential of the media itself to find the most appropriate way of conveying its meaning. Some of Louise’s works are portraits; in others, she explores ideas and experiences beyond the literal meaning of the figures’ identity.
