Sam Mcebisi Gabula’s exhibition Anything but Painting Goes is on in the BAT Centre’s Democratic Gallery until June 6.

Sam draws his inspiration from the traditional art, symbolism, flora and fauna of the Transkei where he grew up and his search for his clansmen roots amongst the Umsinga hills. These experiences taught him the need for cultural integration and his art is an expression of his desire to marry the multi-cultural facets of a fractured and divided land.
