The Manuscript Exhibition, curated by Anna Varney, will be hosted for one week at the NSA Gallery from May 6 to 12 after a very successful run at Carfax, Johannesburg and the Tatham Art Gallery, Pietermaritzburg. Varney selected various works by artists and writers that blur the lines between books (manuscripts) and sculptural objects.

The exhibition also investigates the relationship between text/narrative and image. Various interpretation are given to this theme and range from works that “look” like books to others that break from any conventional sense of what we perceive a book or manuscript might be. Artists on the exhibition include Alistair McLachlan, Jenny Stadler, Willem Boshoff and Wilma Cruise amongst others.

The exhibition runs concurrently with Jeremy Wafer’s Suitcases exhibition in the Main Gallery.
