The South African-born Marlene Dumas, who now lives in the Netherlands, is one of the best-known younger artists internationally, yet in the country of her birth she is surprisingly unfamiliar. This book has been made to accompany the first solo exhibition of her work in South Africa. It includes essays by the curator, Emma Bedford, and by Achille Mbembe as well as a literary creative response to the artist’s work by leading Afrikaans novelist Marlene van Niekerk.

Marlene Dumas: Intimate Relations is published in paperback with 60 full-colour illustrations and retails at R220. ISBN 978-1-77009-381-2
