Founded in 2005, Ifa Lethu Foundation (Our Heritage) is an institution which fosters a culture of understanding and healing through South Africa’s Heritage. This is a nation building exercise – taking ownership of cultural heritage and then leveraging it for development ends.

The Ifa Lethu Foundation pursues the achievement of justice, respect and dignity of peoples and their freedoms by recovering and repatriating a missing era of South African heritage. This creates a focal point for all South Africans to understand their common inheritance. Through its work and its collections, the Foundation will promote the use of artistic creativity to transcend adversity and heal the nation and, in so doing, contribute to the nation building agenda.

In furthering these goals, Ifa Lethu is guided by the principles of reconciliation and equitable access.
