A photographic exhibition titled Water by Angela Shaw is currently running at the KZNSA Gallery in Glenwood.

“Water is my antidote to heat, fuss, noise and too much thinking/ Also to stalemates, sloth and passivity/ Even looking at it is satisfying,” says Angela Shaw.

“In winter the sea in Durban is a solid thing on the horizon, deep opaque blue and when you are at its edge it is another thing – transparent, liquid. Then diving in, floating, swimming, lifted by waves, riding them, dumped and diving back in.

Water is the perfect reminder of change - mutable, fluid, responsive. These photographs honour water. Lilo – peacefully suspended between sky and water; River Ganges – Hindus blessed by holy water with a bathe in the Ganges; Shembe - worship and baptism on Battery beach at dawn; Sea tiles – immersion, reflection and rejuvenation , and Holiday series – watching the sea transform with light, tides, colours through the day, throughout a holiday.

Water can be seen on the Arts Café Wall at the KZNSA until July 8.
