This year’s winner of the Artist of the Year award is woodcarver Philemon Sangweni who lives in a remote area near Hluhluwe Game Reserve. Working in indigenous woods, he is inspired by the animals, insects and birds around him.

The African Art Centre’s Artist of the Year Award supports an artist for one year while he or she experiments with different scale and mediums. The project is funded by the National Arts Council.

The exhibition will open at 17h30 on July 19. All are welcome. More information from 031 304 7915.
