He is South Africa’s top selling artist, and wherever he exhibits, his works are sold out. His name is synonymous with an uncurtailed use of bold, deep, atmospheric colour and a rough-hewn painting style.

Based in Graskop, Mpumalanga, Munro has been painting for the last 10 years and his appeal and renown has grown with his repertoire of exhibitions. His artworks now adorn the walls of galleries, corporate and private collections worldwide. Munro’s work is usually themed on still-lives and landscapes, and he draws on his international travels in his vibrant depiction of life. Characteristic South African landscapes and echoes of European countries, infused with a deep-rooted sense of space, set Munro’s paintings apart.

His passion for texture is enhanced by his characteristic use of the pallet knife as a painting tool, the effective use of which is made possible by his thorough understanding of the medium and its nuances. His bold artwork has garnered much international attention, and his latest exhibition is on display for Durban art lovers to enjoy.

Munro’s latest exhibition is on display at Kizo Art Gallery, Umhlanga, until April 30.
