The next meeting of the North Coast Art Group takes place on April 8 at the La Lucia Library from 09h00 to 12h00.

Julia Forman will give a demonstration of her work in acrylics.

“I will demo a landscape focusing on the sky as this lends itself to palette knife work as well,” she explains. “I will chat a bit about the acrylic medium compared to others.... demonstrate, chat ... I never really know what's going to happen with a painting until I'm in it ... all I know is it comes from the soul ... so come along for the journey!”

Having started out in oils, Julia paints in both acrylic, acrylic ink and oil but maintains that she has no preferred subjects although abstracts are the passion at the moment. She opened a studio with Sharleen Boaden in September 2005 called Artbeat Studio On Steel in Steel Road from where she teaches, works, sells paintings and other interesting things. “It's our happy place where we are surrounded by colour and the smell of art,” she says.

All are welcome to the NCAG Meeting and Julia’s demonstration. Entrance fee R15 (Members R5 for tea).
