The Johansson Collection is hosting Rorke’s Drift Prints from October 27 to December 4 at the Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg.

Uno and Lillemor Johansson worked at Rorke’s Drift during the mid-1970s, during which time they acquired craft and art produced by students. A number of these students have subsequently become well-known South African artists. The Johanssons met Brendan Bell at a Rorke’s Drift seminar in Sweden earlier this year and decided to offer 31 prints as a gift to the Gallery. The collection has been mounted and framed especially for this display as a tribute to the Johansson’s generosity. The collection includes works by Vuminkosi Zulu, Vincent Baloyi, Eric Mbatha and Caiphas Nxumalo.

The exhibition opens at 18h00 on October 27 and there is a walkabout at 13h10 on October 28.
