The Kebble curatorial team has begun the selection process for the next Brett Kebble Art Awards and curator Clive van den Berg says that South Africa is set to have a stunning exhibition.

“It is already clear that we will be setting a new standard in the next exhibition we have had proposals for installations and interactive art works that are world class. South Africa can look forward to a superb show,” said van den Berg.

The finalists’ exhibition is scheduled to take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre next February. “This is one of the few venues that can cope with an exhibition that requires a great deal of space,” said van den Berg.

Van den Berg, co-curator Kathryn Smith and fellow curator Nandipha Mntambo started the first phase of finalists’ selection in Cape Town on August 16 and are now viewing submissions around South Africa. Final selections will be made by a panel of independent selectors, comprising previous Kebble winner, Tanya Poole; Johannesburg Art Gallery director Clive Kellner and artist Sipho Mdanda, who is also curator of Freedom Park Museum in Pretoria. `
