Looking Within is an exhibition of paintings by Angela Maritz and ceramic vessels by Astrid Dahl. They have looked at a theme of “exploring the world around us and capturing a piece within it with texture and delicious shapes.”

For Angela Maritz, the exhibition forms part of a new artistic journey, having entered a new phase of her life with the birth of her baby. “With this came a rebirth within myself, my artwork playing a big part of the person I am, a new zest for life,” she says. “My paintings revolve around a lifestyle; it is about looking at your world around you; vast spaces, beautiful land and capturing a piece within it with texture and delicious shapes. Finding your inspiration, seeing past it, simplifying it, which leads to new awakenings - a breakthrough.”

The exhibition runs from July 15 to August 6 at re-store, 36 Overport Drive, Berea, Durban.
