Red Eye @rt is a highly successful initiative by the Friends of the Durban Art Gallery to attract a younger set to the DAG. It’s working and the first Friday of every month (between 18h00 and 20h00) sees scores of people streaming into the gallery, dressed to the nines and ready to be challenged, stimulated and entertained by the events of the evening.

Proceeds from Red Eye have recently permitted the purchase of Barcode by Langa Magwa. This is a fascinating mixed media work on goatskin which Langa Magwa maintains is a self-portrait exploring his identity. Red Eye @rt proceeds also support a weekly art class in Umlazi Library run by Clement Dube.
