The Durban Animation Network was established in March 2004. Its objective is to provide animation enthusiasts of all kinds; be they students, amateurs, hobbyists, professionals, traditional, digital, 3D, claymation, etc. with a forum where they can contribute animations toward a body of work from Durban animators that can be promoted and screened where possible to interested andiences. The purpose of this is to give exposure to the talents of individuals and to foster a sense of community amongst Durban animation enthusiasts.

“Since our establishment, we have compiled our first DVD volume which was screened as a fringe presentation at this year’s Durban Film Festival,” says co-ordinator Mike McFadyean. “We will continually seek out opportunities to screen the current volume of work. We are working towards a second volume of work by the end of the year.

“Anyone interested in joining the Durban Animation Network, getting more information, or screening/broadcasting our work to an audience, or even commissioning the Network to produce specific animations should contact me.”
