Well known Durban artist Mary Amm died in Durban last week, leaving a large gap in the fine arts circle of the city.

Mary Amm must surely have been one of Durban – and indeed South Africa’s – most enterprising artists. Mainly working in watercolours, she constantly challenged her medium and the boundaries of her materials. She will be sorely missed.
