The Midlands Arts and Crafts Society will host watercolour paintings by Denise Essom and hand-coloured etchings by Jane Foote during November at their premises at 173 Alexandra Road in Pietermaritzburg.

Denise Essom lives in Underberg in the Drakensberg so many of her watercolour scenes depict the mountains and Berg life. Denise is establishing a growing reputation as a watercolour artist and an increasing number of her paintings have found their way into private collections. Jane Foot is from Amanzimtoti and hand-coloured etchings are her speciality. The content of her work is inspired by “the awesome wonder she experiences when she contemplates the many miracles of Creation.” Her works include all life forms and sometimes a humorous aspect of the world around her becomes apparent and manifests itself in her work.

The exhibition opens on November 7 to run until November 28 and all works are for sale. The exhibition area is open weekdays from 09h00 to 16h00 and weekends from 10h30 to 15h30. For details phone (0331) 66500.
