NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. Running upstairs at Bean Bag Bohemia until December 5 is an exhibition of images by 24 photographers tracing a year of chemotherapy undergone by Cape Town’s Sharna Rae in her journey through cancer. Sharna took her illness and therapy and turned it into a life-giving project. Having yet to have finished her treatment for Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer, she started the fund-raising initiative Love, Life and Laughter, a project that involves the country-wide exhibition and auction of a series of photographers taken by 24 photographers to raise funds for children with life-threatening diseases. The sensitive and poignant images in the exhibition form part of a birthday calendar featuring 13 selected images of Sharna. The A3 sized calendar sells for R100. After the end of the exhibition at BBB, it moves to the Gateway shopping complex. All profits will be split between the Reach for a Dream Foundation and CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation of SA)
