An exhibition of work by the students of the Velobala Group will open at the African Art Centre on November 20 at 17h00.

The Velobala Group is an art class programme for young people which runs from March to October each year. Art techniques are taught by invited teachers and also 4th year students of the fine art department of Durban Institute of Technology (formerly Technikon Natal).

Drawing, painting, printmaking, jewellery design and manufacture and sculpture are covered, giving the students an introduction to these art mediums. This class has been running successfully for seven years and is a way for young artists to begin their art careers.

The programme has funded by The Art and Culture Trust Fund and National Lotto Funding.
