A photographic exhibition featuring the work of Mtunzini-based photographer, Anita de Villiers, is currently on display at the Grillroom Café, Innes Road, Windermere. Two series of images, with the themes Fetish and Harbour, each portray a distinct character and style.

Using the photographic technique Painting with Light, the Fetish series shows how one subject, a female torso, can be moulded by light into a mélange of images, a cast of different persons. In some images, a playful fetish element – things feminine, diaphanous and frivolous – are added. In others, identities and moods are communicated by the play of light and colour.

The Harbour images are almost stark in comparison. The focus is on tonal intensities, variations of texture, varieties of patterns and abstractions of form and shapes. Different textures and shapes stand juxtaposed in the solid, weather-beaten structures of the harbour.

The exhibition will be on until the end of November.
