The next production at the new Heritage Theatre at the Heritage Village Market in Hillcrest will be A Twist of Broadway. The show promises to entertain not only the die-hard musical fans but also first time listeners ready to explore the fanciful world of musicals.

The star cast will include David Dennis (acclaimed stage actor and television personality), Karen Van Pletsen (winner of Best Female Vocalist 2004 for Lady Sings The Blues) and Nothando Ngubane (Nunsense) accompanied by a four-piece band featuring Bongani Sokhela, Sean Petersen and Rowan Stewart as well as Burton Naidoo who has done the arrangements.

The musical selection promises to be vast including excerpts from well-known shows such as The Phantom of the Opera, Chess, Sarafina, Annie, Fiddler on the Roof and Les Misèrables. It will also include numbers from some top-class international productions, which have yet to reach our shores: Aida, Rent and The Lion King. Some will be performed as expected - straight and sweet- while others will be parodied, “twisted” and spiced with swing!

A Twist of Broadway runs from May 17 to June 19. Performances Tuesday to Saturday at 19h00 for supper and 20h30 for the show (Sunday 12h30 lunch for 14h00 show).
