NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. There’s nothing that lifts the spirits more than a rousing evening of sing-along, clap-along traditional Irish music. With his mastery of banjo, fiddle and harmonica, Dave Monks of Leprechaun Fame is a popular entertainer. He has a great personality, bags of Irish charm and an authentic, lilting broque, which is perfect for his store of silly, naughty but never offensive Irish jokes. He will present his show Touch of Irish at Rhumbelow at the beginning of march. Interspersed with traditional Irish ballads, the show has some lively Irish jigs, a couple of Scottish folk numbers such as Flower of Scotland and good old favourites like Roll Out The Barrel type sing-alongs. Shows take place on March 5 and 6 at 20h00 and on March 7 at 18h30. The venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner. Tickets R50. Take along food picnic baskets and braais will be available. There is limited secure parking and booking is essential. A cash bar is available (no alcohol may be brought on to the premises). Rhumbelow Theatre is situated in Cunningham Avenue off Bartle Road. To book contact Roland on 031 205 7602 (h) or 082 499 8636, or email roland@stansell.za.net
