The long awaited Grahamstown hit comedy, My Cousin Brother, starring two of the most well-known and popular Durban comedians, Aaron McIlroy (The Loser and Mr Personality) and Kaseren Pillay (Smirnoff Comedy Festival and Comedy Shop), is running at the Lango’s Theatre in Durban North.

My Cousin Brother is a cross-cultural farce, extending McIlroy’s usual comedy routine. Co-written and directed by Krijay Govender, the show tells the story of two young men who have the grand idea of bringing stars from Bollywood to South Africa.

The plot of the Bollywood Extravaganza unfolds in typical “McIlroy” style. Things don’t quite work out as expected and the eccentric characters played by Aaron and Kaseran, set about getting themselves out of the trouble they have caused.

My Cousin Brother will appeal to audiences from all cultures taking them on a comic journey from a funeral to the boardroom, and a family reunion to the dance floor. Having played to rave reviews in the Eastern Cape and at the Grahamstown Festival, this two-hander is a laugh from start to finish with the audience being drawn into the hilarity by McIlroy’s inimitable “audience abuse” style. There are also a few Bollywood music hits – but don’t expect to recognise them, they’ve done things in their own way!

The show runs until September 21. Tickets R65 and a three course meal is R75. To book contact Computicket or the theatre on 031 563 7324.
