Arthur Reed, an engineer by trade and a professional magician for the past 20 years, has been a three times winner of the “most entertaining magic act”. A member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians in America and the Magic Circle of London, he has travelled extensively with his wife Avril and they have performed in all South African major cities.

For the past four years, Arthur has turned his focus to art, creating oil paintings of the many tribes who have crossed his path in his magic travels to Africa and the Far East. Multi-talented, he also repairs and restores violins and cellos and makes miniature musical string instruments for his studio/gallery, Violin & Bow, in Pinetown which forms part of the 1000 Hills Experience Meander. His miniatures won first prize at the Royal Show in 1998 and can be seen in many homes around the world.

An exhibition of Arthur Reed’s work will run at the Alliance Française from August 30 to September 14. A percentage of the sales will be donated to the Kloof SPCA. More information from 031 702-0076.
