The Family Players have been presenting comedy drag mime shows as fund raisers for TAFTA for some 21 years. “We have loads of fun doing it and have a good following - like a cult following - of people ranging from 18 to 80 who come to see our shows,” explains Roland Stansell of the group.

The Family Players present shows four times a year and sometimes get other charities involved. It has recently gone into partnership with the Rhumbelo Shell Hole and will present shows there in future. The hall, stage and dressing room facilities need some work, so the first shows in the venue will be presented as fund raisers to put in new curtains and to do alterations to provide suitable change room and toilet facilities.

The next shows take place on June 29 and 30 at 19h00 for 19h30 and July 1 at 17h00 for 17h30. The show is called Tipsy Tarts Follies with all-new material. The format will be a braai (meat being cooked for patrons) with salads, rolls and potato followed by ice cream and chocolate sauce. Vegetarians need to alert the caterers when booking.

Tickets R50 inclusive. There will be tables of eight people at R400 per table. Booking essential as the capacity is limited. There is secure parking. Bookings on (031) 920-57602 or 082 499-8636 or e-mail: roland@stansell.za.net
