Inspired by the latest in fashionable London restaurants, Pedro’s Latin Café is a new venue in the Village Market centre in Jan Hofmeyer Road, Westville. The feel is subtly South American and the theme celebrates all things Latin American with an eclectic and exciting menu to match the vibrant décor.

The venue aims to have live entertainment on Wednesday and Saturday evenings and in their opening week they hosted the Linda Vargas Flamenco Dance Company accompanied by renowned guitarist Demi Fernandez.

On April 28, Pedro’s Latin Café will play host to Portuguese keyboard player and singer Jose Carlos, a well-known member of Durban’s active Portuguese community. His musical repertoire ranges from soulful ballads to numbers made popular by the likes of Santana, Julio Iglesias and Ricky Martin.

At Pedro’s there is no formal show, rather the feel is comfortable and relaxed with live entertainment taking place during the course of the evening. There is no cover charge and there are two Spanish-style tapas bars: one for smokers and another for non-smokers. Tapas is tasty Spanish-style food which is the perfect alternative to a light lunch or for a sociable supper with friends.

Pedro’s Latin Café is open Monday to Saturday for lunch from 12h00 and dinner from 19h00. To book a table, call (031) 266-0443. The Village Market Centre has plenty of secure parking.
