What better way to celebrate Valentine's Weekend than an entertaining musical evening at the theatre? Meryl Kurz, whose Pig and Whistle has been a mainstay of musical entertainment in the Pietermaritzburg area, is bringing her famed group to the Hexagon theatre complex in Pietermaritzburg for three evenings of music, romance and laughter in a show titled Simply the Best.

The show includes “simply the best” of songs old and new. Tina Turner (as represented by Hayley Hounsomn and Yithi Ntshangase) will be singing the title song as well as some of her other hits. Old Pig and Whistles favourites make a welcome return, especially the delightful Spice Girls segment.

Music ranges from the 1950's to the present, so there is something for everyone in the family! The cast includes seasoned Pig and Whistlers Warwick Hulbert, Carol Mitchell, Caitlin Kilburn, Yithi Ntshangase and Matthew Beetar, as well as new faces Derrick Zuma (last seen in only a towel, bringing the house down in Rock, Rattle and Roll), Nosi Zulu, Hayley Hounsomn and David Plank.

Simply The Best runs at the Hexagon Dive from February 14 to 16 at 19h00 for 19h30. Bring picnics but no drinks, there is a cash bar. Tickets R60pp and tables seat 10. Bookings on 033 260 5537 or e-mail hexagon@ukzn.ac.za
