The Johannesburg Jewish Male Choir will perform on November 4 in the Durban Jewish Club at 20h30.

After it was formed in 1986, the choir grew almost as fast as its reputation and attracted choristers from synagogues around Johannesburg with a range of voices that enchanted audiences far and wide. The choir elevated the sound of Jewish prayer to new heights.

In 1987 the choir was invited to perform at the 20th anniversary celebrations of the reunification of Jerusalem and is always inundated with invitations to perform around South African and internationally. They have performed from New York to Sydney, San Diego to London, Glasgow and Liverpool and have appeared with some of the greatest cantors in the world, as well as with international and national choirs.

The performers of the choir reflect the dedication, enthusiasm and commitment of the musical directorate and choristers, who give their time on a voluntary basis. Their reward is the knowledge that through their efforts, numerous charities have benefited and the culture of the Jewish people has been experienced by many.
