The University of Natal Durban’s Music School will offer something different for its free-lunch-hour concert in Howard College Theatre on October 25 at 12h15.

Arias in Costume features popular opera arias presented by members of the University of Natal Student Opera Ensemble. These include Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Verdi's Rigoletto and Simon Boccanegra, Bizet's Carmen, Donizetti's L'Elisir d'Amore, Puccini's La Bohème and Gershwin's Porgy and Bess.

The Student Opera Ensemble is directed by Dr David Smith and their voice teacher is Colleen Philp. Some of these students appeared at South Africa House in London at the recent launch of the UND Opera School and Voice Academy. They were extremely favourably received and have had a triumphant return home.

The concert is free and open to the public.
