Rotary International's goal is the development of the 13th South African House/Home for the elderly, under the auspices of the Abbeyfield Society, this time in the Durban area.

The concept is to allow otherwise lonely, neglected elderly folk, to retain their dignity, privacy and independence by coming self-sufficient and caring of each other, giving them a purpose in life and keeping them in security and companionship while remaining meaningful members of the community. House/homes have been very successfully opened amongst others in and around Cape Town, Atlantis and Guguletu.

A charity concert to raise funds is planned for October 7 in the Durban Playhouse. Performing will be the Fulton School for the Deaf "Singing" Choir, the renowned Durban Men's Choir under the baton of Norraine Swanby and three sopranos, Pinky Mtshali, Marie Visagie and Norraine Swanby - an exquisite programme to entertain you.

Booking essential at the Playhouse or any Ticketweb outlet. Credit cards on (031) 369-9444. Or book at www.ticketweb.co.za
