Forming part of The South African Women’s Arts Festival presented by the Playhouse Company and Transnet, the popular Evening of Song series offers a special festival programme featuring local favourites Melanie Roberts and Pinkie Mtshali with pianist Philipp Maier.

Melanie Roberts and her husband Philipp Maier are no strangers to Durban audiences and were recently seen at the Langoustine Theatre by the Sea with their show Concerto for 2.

Pinkie Mtshali started her career singing in a church choir before completing her opera studies at Technikon Natal. She went on to become a full-time member of the now-defunct Playhouse Singers before joining the CAPAB opera chorus in Cape Town. She recently appeared in Cultural Crossover at the Royal Hotel’s Backstage.

An Evening of Song features light classical and jazz standards including works from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and many more well-known melodies. The performance takes place in the Grand Foyer on August 11 at 17h30. Tickets R20 (R10 students/pensioners or block bookings of ten or more). Contact Mala Govender on (031) 369-9497.
