Well-known entertainers and impresarios Des and Dawn Lindberg bring Timothy Walker, one of Britain’s top classical guitarists to South Africa next month to appear at the Standard Bank National Arts Festival in Grahamstown and on a subsequent South Africa tour. Timothy Walker will present a programme he calls a “musical journey through time and place” which will include music from around the world such as Elizabethan lute pieces and works by Francisco Tarrega, Manuel de Falla and Milton Barnes. Other composers include Hector Ayala, Augustin Barrios, Isias Savio and Yokojiro Yoke. There’ll be Variations on the Dance of Yi arranged by Chen Zhi, the Greek dance piece Karaguna by Dimitri Fampas and, from Africa, works by Francis Bebey, Mwenda Jean Bosco and Timothy Walker himself. Timothy Walker will perform two concerts in KZN. He appears at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre on July 11 at 18h00. Tickets are R45 (concessions for state pensioners and students on presentation of student cards). There will be a further concert at the Hilton College Theatre on July 14 at 19h30. Tickets R40.
