The Alliance Française de Durban will celebrate La Fête de la Musique on June 21 from 18h00 to 23h00 with five hours of non-stop music. Since the creation of the festival in 1982 by Jack Lang, Mitterand's minister of culture, people have been celebrating "musique sans (without) frontières" all over the world on this day.

La Fête de la Musique, which will showcase many local musicians playing in different styles, is open and free to the general public. An authentic French meal will be on offer but a limited number of meals will be available at R15. Bookings must be secured by buying a ticket before June 19 at the Alliance Française offices at 22 Sutton Crescent, Morningside, open from 09h00 until 17h30 from Monday to Friday.
