Following the success of last year’s first Starlight Pop Opera at the Durban Country Club, the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra will present the millennium version on June 4 at 17h30. Rand Merchant Bank will again host the event under the stars on the practice fairway.

The show will feature highlights from popular opera and classical favourites with soloists Linda Bukhosini, Bongani Tembe, Prince Lengoasa and Nomthandazo Mkhize. The programme includes favourites such as O mio babbino caro, Jewel Song, Nessun dorma from Turandot, as well as Vilja (The Merry Widow) and You are my heart’s delight (Land of Smiles). Trumpeter Prince Lengoasa will perform Mac the Knife and What a wonderful world and there’ll be a ballroom dancing, Durban’s own ”Riverdance” team and a spectacular fireworks display.

Tickets R40 (R30 students and pensioners) at Computicket. The audience is invited to bring picnic tables and chairs and suitable refreshment and enjoy the evening in style with friends or business clients. For corporate bookings (R35 each for ten or more tickets), phone Dianna Martin on (031) 369-9453. Also see KZNPO Starlight Pop Opera banner advert on this site.

There will be secure parking on the Kings Park rugby fields, across NMR Avenue from the entrance to the fairway. In the event of rain, the concert will take place on June 5 at 18h30.
