In the second concert in the Playhouse Company’s 1999 Evening of Song series, soprano Ruth Smith and popular baritone Juan Burgers will perform a delightfully varied programme of vocal music accompanied by newcomer to the Durban scene, Sareen Young.

Both Juan Burgers and Ruth Smith are well-known to Durban audiences for their oratorio and concert work. Ruth Smith will be remembered for her fine performance as Queen of the Night in Opera Africa’s production of The Magic Flute . The duo will perform The Magic Flute from Rosemary, excerpts from La Traviata, Don Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro , as well as duets from musicals such as The Marriage of Figaro and Phantom of the Opera.
