The Pietermaritzburg-based Music Revival organisation will host visiting German pianist Florian Uhlig who is currently undertaking a sponsored tour of South Africa. He has performed in London, New York, Vienna and Venice. Musical Opinion described him as "one of the most individual and imaginative young pianists of our time." He will perform an unusual programme which will include rarely-heard works by Beethoven and Hummel and a series of pieces inspired by bells by Leonhardt, Debussy and Liszt. This will take place at Wedgwood in Hilton on May 28 at 11h00. Tickets R50 and booking is essential.

Florian Uhlig will conduct a masterclass of approximately two hours with advanced piano students in the afternoon at 15h00. This masterclass provides an opportunity for students to be advised on their performance while allowing the public an rare opportunity to observe the teaching and method of a master-pianist. Tickets R20 and booking is preferred.
