A vibrant musical, U-Shaka Zulu: The Spear is Born the latest production by the KwaMashu Community Advancements Projects (K-Caps) organisation, is scheduled to be staged from May 26 to 28 at Durban’s ML Sultan Technikon before leaving on a tour of Britain.

Some 22 young performers involved with the production – which tells, in song and dance, the life and times of King Shaka – will leave for Britain early in June for performances of the musical. It will be staged at various venues, including the South African Embassy, the Lewisham Theatre and the Africa Centre in London.

The Durban group will be in the United Kingdom for six weeks during which time it will also hold workshops in African music and dance, take part in the Womad Festival in London as well as contribute to a youth arts festival in that city.
