Recreating the authentic atmosphere of a salon concert, Christopher Duigan and Music Revival will compile a programme of music in the style of a 19th century music evening. The setting is one of Pietermaritzburg's historic houses, the beautiful home of Brian and Meryl Kurz in Cordwalles Drive.

The programme includes a collection of sophisticated melodies from the romantic repertoire, some of which are seldom heard in the concert hall today. Included in this all-classical programme are character pieces Les Soupirs and The Maiden's Prayer, waltzes and nocturnes by Chopin and music by Liszt, Burgmuller, Kalkbrenner and Mendelssohn.

Soirée Musicale takes place on April 11 and 13 at 19h30 at 8 Cordwalles Gardens, Cordwalles Drive. Tickets at R40 include sherry on arrival as well as coffee and biscuits after the music. Bring your own wine. Booking essential.
