A one-off Celebration of Women is being staged at the Catalina Theatre on August 9 in honour of National Women’s Day with a glittering line-up of some of the performers who have performed at the Catalina in the last while.

The performance has a sombre but celebratory note when paying tribute to the much-loved actress and singer Cindy Ngidi who passed away unexpectedly earlier this month. As Ngidi performed in Motown Magic earlier this year, the performance will have a Motown Blues and Southern feel to it. Theatre impresario extraordinaire Hamish Kyd will be narrator and MC’ing the show that will be inter-laced with feel-good songs and some of Kyd’s humour thrown into the mix.

Celebration of Women takes place at the Catalina Theatre on August 9 at 20h00 with cocktails and snacks being served from 19h00. Tickets R80 booked through Catalina on 031 305 6889.
